A bronze sculpture of Kannon
Probably Edo period (18th - 19th century)
Cast probably as the Eleven-headed Kannon (Ekadashamukha Avalokiteshvara), the standing deity with the right arm hanging down and the left arm holding a flask, the head adorned with a crown, chest and arms with jewels, the scarf and skirt arranged in stylized folds and draping across the lap, the Silla style stand and feet cast separately
10 3/8 in. (26.4 cm.) high including stand
With lacquered wood box affixed with paper label sealed Maeda bunko (Maeda family library) on reverse side of the lid and inscribed and dated 8th month 1837 on underside
