Lot Essay

The scale of the present watercolour clearly indicates that is was an exhibited watercolour, possibly the work exhibited at the Royal Watercolour Society, 1838, no. 13 as 'Early Morning, with Haymaking'. The view looks westward through Wensleydale with Aysgarth in the middle distance and shows Redmire and Castle Bolton.
We are grateful to Timothy Wilcox for his help in preparing this catalogue entry.
