Lot Essay

This pictorial diorama presents the world from California to Indian and the Equator to the North Pole. It is illustrated with particular views, such as Niagara Falls, Chicago, a Hindu cremation, a Tuareg warrior, among others, together with flags and sketches of seventy-nine individuals in traditional costumes. Interestingly, it notes a polar free Greenland, called 'Mer Libre', Trans-Atlantic shipping lanes and achievements of explorers.
