Lot Essay
Pencil and watercolour on paper. The paper is slightly uneven and does not lay flat. The surface is covered in slight surface dirt. There is slight staining. There is a crease (possibly a vertical tear) on the right hand side which passes through the centre of the horse on the right. There is a tear (approximately 3 cm long)in the upper left corner and a tear by the hat of the figure on the left. Not examined out of frame. The work presents in a gilt composite, period style frame with a cream mount and gilt slip. The work is protected behind glass. The colours in the catalogue illustration are slightly washed out and lack some of the nuances of the original.
