Château Mouton-Rothschild 1987
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
In second-hand wood. Eight lightly bin-soiled labels, two nicked. Levels: six base of neck, six top-shoulder
Tasting note: Just three notes: attractive mid-term drinking (1990). And, on its tenth birthday, prettily coloured; attractive, biscuity, fruity nose which, after 50 minutes in the glass powered out, as if impatient to join the ’86. Easily the best bouquet. On the palate, spicy, distinctive, singed, chaptalised sort of flavour, but departing with a bitter finish. Last tasted June 1997 *** M. B.
