inscribed 'Exmarmore antiquo' (recto) and 'In(k)t van den 17 Sept alleen / vrij goet niet corligh noch randigh / en dat niet lang in de inktpot geweest / was' and dated '17 September 1667' (verso)
traces of black chalk, charcoal, brown wash, the two upper corners cut, watermark device with a cross,
21.7 x 25.6 cm.
Provenance
Arnout Vosmaer (1720-1799) and by descent to Carel Vosmaer (1826-1888).
Possibly M. Elte, The Hague; from whom purchased by I.Q. van Regteren Altena on 23 December 1927 for 2 guilders (Inventory book: ' 375. t. J. de Bisschop relief n. antiek').
