Lot Essay

The delicate handling of the background is extremely comparable to that of a signed drawing by Dujardin in the British Museum, London (P. Schatborn, Drawn to Warmth: Seventeenth-Century Dutch Artists in Italy, exhib. cat., Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum, 2001, p. 158, fig. H).
