8° (245 x 158mm). Frontispiece, additional title and 5 plates, all hand-coloured aquatints by J. Harris after H. Alken, wood-engraved illustrations, 4pp. advertisements at end. (Mainly marginal spotting and staining throughout.) Original green cloth, title vignette of a fox stamped in gilt on front and in blind on rear cover, gilt edges; morocco-backed box (spine of box a little rubbed). Provenance: purchased from Robinson, London, 1 March 1936.

FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, in green cloth with titles and preface dated 1846. Plate 4 in the early state, dated 9 November; plate 3 in the later state dated 19 November. Podeschi 177; Schwerdt II p.232; Tooley 470.
