oval box, the cover, sides and base set with panels of engine-turning stamped with flowerheads on a reeded ground within slightly raised vari-colour gold foliate sablé borders, the side pilasters chased with musical trophies

Lot Essay

Étienne-Michel Hallet entered his mark in 1762 when he is listed at Les Gobelins. He succeeded his father who was a jeweller to the King. Between 1781 and his death in 1791, his address is listed at Quai Pelletier.
