Arched glazed panels with fret over to sides and rear door, the dial with silvered chapter ring, the matted centre with mock pendulum and date apertures, signature plaque signed 'Danl. Quare London', blued steel hands and 'Strike/Silent' to the arch; the seven pillar movement with twin gut fusees and reconverted verge escapement, pull quarter repeat on six bells and hour strike on large bell, restorations

Lot Essay

Daniel Quare (b. circa 1649 - d. 1724), was one of the most illustrious clockmakers of England's golden age of horology. He became Master of the Clockmakers' in 1708 and was George I's Watchmaker. In 1701 Quare took his former apprentice, Stephen Horseman, into partnership.
