A COLLECTION OF CHOIRBOOK LEAVES, in Latin, DECORATED MANUSCRIPTS ON VELLUM, [Italy and Spain, 15th to 16th centuries]. 21 leaves, ranging in size from c.420 x 290mm to 516 x 365mm, four to nine lines of text, all in formal gothic hands and with music of square notation on four- or five-line staves.

One, measuring 516 x 352mm, from the Common of Virgins from an Italian Gradual, early 15th century, with a large decorated initial 'H' on coloured grounds, with foliate flourishing extending into the margins, opening the responsory 'Hec est virgo prudens [...]'; from the same manuscript a second leaf with a large decorated initial 'L' opening the Feast of Stephen: 'Lapidabant Stephanum invocantem et dicentem [...]'; the remainder with decorated penwork initials in blue or red ink with red or blue flourishing.
