'The first critical edition of Aelianus' works, containing his "De animalium natura libri XVII" and the "Epistolae rusticae" ascribed to him ... contains also two works by Aelianus Tacticus, an author of works on military topics who was then thought to be the same person as Claudius Aelianus' (Wellisch).
