A BAMBOO ROOT BRUSH HOLDER CARVED WITH A DRUNKEN SCHOLAR
LATE MING-EARLY QING PERIOD, 17TH CENTURY
The root is carved and pierced depicting a man seated at ease in the shade of a gnarled pine tree, dressed in loose-fitted robes, revealing his bare chest and rotund belly abdomen, holding a peach in one hand. His young attendant is on one side brewing tea.
