A YELLOW JADE CARVING OF A MYTHICAL BEAST
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The recumbent beast is shown with its head turned back, its face detailed with rounded eyes, a broad snout and curved ears. Its bushy mane and tail are carefully combed, its spine highlighted by ridges. The stone is of a greenish-yellow tone with a concentrated area of russet inclusion.
