A CARVED LONGQUAN CELADON JAR AND COVER, GUAN
YUAN DYNASTY (1279-1368)
The thickly potted body is divided into eight lobes, each decorated with a flower spray and divided by vertical ribs, above a broad band of narrow petals. The domed cover is carved with similar floral-sprays beneath an unglazed biscuit finial in the form of a lion. The interior of the cover is carved with the character fu within a moulded flower-head. The glaze is a rich olive-green tone.
