A GROUP OF THREE FURONG SOAPSTONE MYTHICAL BEAST SEALS
QING DYNASTY, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY
The first seal dating to 19th century is of rectangular section, surmounted by a two-horned mythical beast with its head turned sharply to one side, the seal chop is carved in intaglio with the characters, Yinlu kehua, congwu suohao, 'Muscial rhythm flows akin to a painting, as per (my) preference'. The second seal, dating 19th century, is similarly carved with a beast of bi-furcated horns, surmounted on an oval section platform. The third mythical beast is modelled recumbent and seated on a rectangular section platform.
The largest, 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) across, 2 1/8 in. (5.2 cm.) high
