Mold made, the expressive face with deep vertical furrows between exaggerated brows above pierced eyes, a broad bulbous nose and an open mouth with full lips, his bald pate contrasting with his thick wavy mustache and cascading beard, with two central locks curving inward, the prominent ears pointed at their upper tips

Lot Essay

Pornoboskos or brothel-keeper was a stock character in New Comedy who is often an adversary to love-struck, young protagonists. For a similar example now in Berlin, see no. 76, in M.L. Hart, ed., The Art of Ancient Greek Theater.
