Album of six leaves, ink on paper.
The first five leaves are divided in half with a poem on the left and landscape on the right and each is signed: Song Daye or Yaozhou.
The fifth leaf is inscribed and signed by the artist and dated gengwu year (1690).
The last leaf is painted with a landscape, signed: Jianzhai Junye and dated bingyin year (1686), dedicated to Runfu.
Each leaf with two to five seals of the artist.
Twelve collectors' seals.
One colophon by Chen Yuanlong (1652-1736).
Frontispiece by the artist, with three seals.


Each leaf measures: 9 x 11½in. (23 x 29.4cm.)

Lot Essay

Born in Changshu, Jiangsu, Song Junye attained the post of vice president of the Board of War. Having studied painting with Wang Hui (1632-1717), he painted landscapes in the style of the Song and Yuan dynsty masters and practiced calligraphy.
