FIRST EDITION OF THE AUTHOR’S FIRST BOOK, PRESENTATION COPY, the front free endpaper inscribed, “with love from Gavin, Feb. 39.” With 3 other printed books, Poems from the Forces (London, [1941], with 3 poems by Gavin Ewart, “Cadet, R.A.”, cloth, dust-jacket, PRESENTATION COPY), Or Where a Young Penguin Lies Screaming (London, 1977, 2 copies, one a SIGNED PROOF, with numerous autograph revisions by the author, the other the published paperback version, also SIGNED by the author); and 2 manuscript poems by Gavin Ewart, “The Influence of D.H. Lawrence on the Language of Gardeners and Gamekeepers in the Thirties” and “Populist Song, Written for ‘The Sun’ on the Occasion of the Queen’s Speech to the European Parliament”, with a typed letter from the author to Anthony Hobson, stating “… The first of these has been printed in Ambit 128. The other, nowhere yet …”, bound together in three-quarter black morocco.
