Inlaid overall with foliate sprays, the waved rectangular fall-front enclosing a fitted interior with brown leather-lined writing-surface, three serpentine-fronted drawers and a pigeon-hole above a sliding well, on cabriole legs and rocaille-cast sabots, restorations to the veneers

Lot Essay

Jacques Dubois, maître in 1742.

Although perhaps better known for his lacquer furniture, Jacques Dubois was equally accomplished at the delicate bois de bout marquetry of foliate tendrils displayed on this commode.
