Engraved double hemisphere world map, finely colored in contemporary outline, image 404 x 537 mm (427 x 555 mm sheet), showing California as an Island. (A few creases, short marginal tear, some marginal staining.)
The Mappe-Monde is one of the first to distinguish the Great Lakes. “Based largely on Jesuit reports, Lac Superior and Lac des puans… for Lake Michigan are here introduced…” (Shirley 390).
