Lot Essay

The sitter was the youngest daughter of Prince Frederik Hendrik (1584-1647) and Amalia van Solms (1602-1675). She married Johan George II von Anhalt-Dessau (1627-1693) in 1659. The present lot formed part of a series, portraying the children of Frederik Hendrik, which were separated at the sale in 1971.
