Lot Essay

These roundels were acquired from the Zurich dealer Sybille Kummer, who was also the source for the panel of St. Christina (see lot 6). The St. Christina panel has been convincingly attributed to a master working in the Steiermark area of Austria at the beginning of the 15th century. These roundels appear to be by a different hand and marginally later but show many of the same stylistic characteristics.
