Lot Essay

The 2nd Century AD marble Roman copy of the Discobolus, after the Greek bronze original by Myron, circa 460 BC, was found in the Tivoli gardens and acquired by the Vatican Museum circa 1790. This bronze is not a direct copy, lacking the tree trunk, but very similar.
