A large late Victorian carved oak chiming bracket clock
the case with cushion top elaborately carved with foliage, with pierced arched sound frets to the sides, a caryatid and a term flanking the front door, both trailing leaves, with lion masks above, on inverted break front base, the brass dial with silvered chapter ring applied with brass Arabic numerals, the matted centre with plaque signed BROOK & SON EDINBURGH, with gilt-metal foliate spandrels, three silvered rings to the arch for chime/silent, slow/fast and eight bells/Westminster chimes, the substantial triple chain fusee movement with pin barrel chimes on eight bells or four gongs, with hour strike on further gong -- 26¾in.(68cm.) high
