Lot Essay

Silas Broux was a student at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris from 1886 and the pupil of Gustave Moreau and Jules-Élie Delaunay. He exhibited scenes varying from topographic landscapes to portraits of family members at the Paris Salon from 1891 to 1956.  Broux took up the role of a teacher in Alençon, not only in the school but also as the curator of Alençon museum.
