Lot Essay

This lot consists of two paintings.

Born in Changzhou, Zhang Jixin (b. 1926) first started as an apprentice in Suzhou, where he learnt to paint landscapes, flowers, and birds. He then studied under the renowned flower and bird painter Zhang Xinjia, who had a lasting influence on his works.
