Lot Essay

This lot consists of three paintings.

A native of Suzhou, Jiangsu province, Zhang Xinjia (1909-1991) was a guohua painter known for his refined depictions of flowers and birds. During his lifetime, he was a member of the Chinese Artists’ Association, the Chinese Calligraphers Association, as well as a research consultant.

A native of Wujiang, Jiansu province, Wu Yezhou (1904-1997) was a guohua painter. He was Honorary President of the Painting and Calligraphy Institute in Heze in Shandong province. In his youth, he studied under renowned artist Zhong Guangxun.
