Lot Essay

Ayyub Sabri Pasha was an Ottoman naval officer. He held various appointments and served for a while in both the Hijaz and Yemen. He died in Istanbul in 1890. He was the author of a number of historical and descriptive works on Arabia, including the present account of Mecca and Medina which includes details about the beginning and spread of Wahhabism in the Peninsula.
