JIAJING SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1522-1566)
The dish has rounded sides that rise in a curve to the everted rim, and is covered inside and out with a glaze of rich egg yolk-yellow color.

Lot Essay

Yellow-glazed dishes of this type with Jiajing marks were made in various sizes, and several of smaller size have been sold at Christie's New York: a single dish, 20 September 2005, lot 267 (6 1/8 in. diam.); a pair, 19 September 2007, lot 283 (7 in. diam.); and another pair, 22 March 2012, lot 1980 (6 7/16 in. diam.).
