The plaque is carved on one side with a boy steering a log boat amidst waves, and on the reverse with a four-character seal, zailai huajia ('another sixty years of longevity'). The openwork carving is in the form of an open box and a lingzhi and lotus. Both are set within a conjoined 14k gold mount. The semi-translucent stone is of white color.
The plaque 2 3/8 in. (6.1 cm.) long; the carving 2 1/8 in. (5.4 cm.) wide

Lot Essay

The combination of an open box (he) with lotus (he) and fungus (lingzhi) forms the wish (hehe ruyi), 'May you have a harmonious marriage, and may all your wishes come true.' The motif was popular for weddings.
