OF LOUIS XVI STYLE, BY EMMANUEL-ALFRED (DIT ALFRED II) BEURDELEY , LATE 19TH CENTURY
Each in the form of an urn with three acanthus-cast upright handles suspending fruiting garlands and issuing foliate branches, on a tripod base with paw feet centred by a serpent, on a stiff-leaf cast base, the underside of the paw feet signed 'BY'

A pair of vases of this same model by Beurdeley, but with Celadon porcelain bodies and not surmounted by candelabra, sold in the Vente Beurdeley, 6-9 May, 1895, lot 7. The model also featured in C. Mestdagh, L'ameublement d'art français: 1850-1900, Paris, 2010, fig. 95 & 96., p. 99 and fig. 320., p. 273. Please see Lot 200 for a note on the Beurdeley dynasty.
