Lot Essay

With F.P. Journe warranty card dated 2 September 2014, instruction manual, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.

Producing approximately 850 watches per year, F.P. Journe has established its reputation by making high-level quality timpieces inspired from traditional watchmaking techniques.

Looking to build wristwatches able to work for centuries, F.P. Journe feared that lubricants would decrease the precision of movements when dry, preventing timepieces to be serviced in the future. He therefore decided through the Chronomètre Optimum not to use solid lubricants or silicium and use more traditional materials.

Through intensive research and gathered experience, the Chronomètre Optimum was created to be extremely precise with a durable movement creating as little friction as possible between its parts. In order to do so, F.P. Journe incorporated the 18k pink gold movement with a double barrel, which stabilizes the release of energy throughout the movement and reduces wear. The movement also incorporates a remontoir d'égalité, visible through the dial at 10 o'clock, which will store and release energy to evenly distribute the power towards the escapement. Connected to the remontoire d'égalité, a natural dead-beat seconds display will show seconds counter-clockwise through the glazed display back.

With an off-centered time display and platinum case, the present wristwatch was created for the most educated collectors in search of exclusivity, quality and sophistication. Offered here in "like new" condition, the present timepiece is fresh to the market and is furthermore offered with its accessories.
