Lot Essay

By designing some of the world's most iconic watches, Gérald Genta imposed himself as one of the most prolific designer of all times. Father of timepieces such as the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak or the Patek Philippe Nautilus, Genta was also known for creating watches under his own name.

Praised for engineering the Grande Sonnerie Rétro, one of the most complicated wristwatches of the 1990s, Genta's prominence was also brought by the originality of his timepieces. It is indeed with his eponymous line that the designer was able to express his ingenuity. Notably through the use of materials such as bronze, titanium or the licensing of Disney watches.

Remaining to this day an icon in high horology, Gérald Genta's designs have transcended time. Now discontinued, timepieces bearing the Gérald Genta name are increasingly sought after by collectors in search of distinctive designs and creativity.
