For UAE buyers, please note that duty is paid at origin (Dubai) and not in the importing country. As such, duty paid in Dubai is treated as final duty payment. It is the buyer's responsibility to ascertain and pay all taxes due. Prospective purchasers are advised that several countries prohibit the importation of property containing materials from endangered species, including but not limited to coral, ivory and tortoiseshell. Accordingly, prospective purchasers should familiarize themselves with relevant customs regulations prior to bidding if they intend to import this lot into another country.

Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 27 April 2009, sales tag, instruction manual, product literature, leather wallet, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.

Launched in 1968, Patek Phillipe's iconic Ellipse timepiece took inspiration from the golden section. Intriguing the minds of scientists and artists, this ancient mathematical concept has been featured in various pieces of art and natural compositions. The golden section, also known as "divine proportions", symbolizes the perfect equilibrium of shapes.
Through its disctinctive silhouette and linear oval case, the Ellipse became, throughout the years, a classic and one of Patek Phillipe's most acclaimed timepieces.
