Founded in 1894 by Ulysse Perret, the Swiss watch company Universal was based in Le Locle before being relocated to Geneva. Although the company first started as a manufacture making watch cases, crowns, dials and movements, the manufacture throughout the years evolved into creating high-end timepieces.
With the increased interest in wristwatches during the 1930s, Universal developed chronographs shortly before the start of World War II with the aim of assisting pilots and soldiers during their trainings or combat operations.
