A PAIR OF LARGE FAMILLE ROSE JARS AND COVERS
YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-1735)
Each vase has a broad shoulder tapering to an ogee section above the foot. The exteriors are brightly and richly enamelled with four baskets of flowers including chrysanthemum, magnolia, peony, peach blossom and irises with smaller flowers visible through the openwork sides, between puce-enamelled petal-shaped borders enclosing flower sprays. The domed covers are decorated with similar designs and are surmounted with Buddhist lion finials.
