A FINELY CARVED 'DONGSHAN BAOJIE' BAMBOO BRUSH POT
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The cylindrical brush pot is carved in relief of varying depths with the historical scene Dongshan Baojie, depicting the general Xie An and his friend playing chess in a pine grove, served by two female attendants standing to one side and two boy servants preparing medicine, while a horseman charges forward with a flag in one hand to deliver the news that Xie An's army has achieved victory.
