Lot Essay

Another version of this drawing from the collections of Jonathan Richardson Sr. and Ed. Knight, was engraved by Conrad Metz (1745/49-1827) and published in Imitations of Ancient and Modern Drawings, second edition, 1798 (see, British Museum, London, inv. 1936,1105.16.1-139). The engraving is in reverse to the present drawing.
