With wooden shell painted with a black shield bearing the cypher 'IR' surrounded by a wreath comprising shamrocks and wheat, and with a panel of domed brass studs, red-painted upper and lower hoops bound with cords, and hide heads, printed trade label inside the shell
19 in. (48.3 cm.) high, 17 ½ in. (44.5 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The 'IR' cypher within the shield may refer to the Inch Rangers of Donegal (1781-1783).
