The first with Westley Richards patent toplever, 30 in. (76 cm.) twist black powder only barrels, scroll engraved bar-in-wood locks, and figured 14 ¼ in. stock; the second of rotary-underlever type, with rebrowned 31 in. (78.8 cm.) black powder only barrels, scroll engraved action and back-action locks, and figured 14 in. stock
Provenance
The makers of the second gun have kindly confirmed that it was made with 31 in. barrels in 1863 for a Mr. Murray Johnstone.
