DATED '1691'
With pierced iron head of characteristic form, struck on one side with a maker's mark, and fruitwood haft profusely inlaid with engraved staghorn panels and dots, the back-edge with a depiction of Christ on the Cross beneath the inscription 'INRI', a lower panel with crossed pick and hammer bearing the date, 36 in. (91.5 cm.) overall; together with TWO GERMAN OR AUSTRIAN BEARDED AXES, 17TH/18TH CENTURY, each struck with maker's marks and incised with crude decoration, each with approx. 14 in. (35.5 cm.) cutting edge
