A FINE & RARE POLISH OR EASTERN EUROPEAN GILT-BRASS PROCESSIONAL WAR HAMMER (NADZIAK)
LATE 17TH CENTURY
With brass head with flat hammer face with deeply fluted edges and with heart-shaped piercing, pierced long slightly down-curved rear-spike with turned silver pin, and tapering cylindrical socket heightened with pins, the head engraved throughout with scrolls, the socket with flower-heads, on textile-covered haft, the grip engraved en suite with the socket and with lion-mask cap, retaining traces of original gilding throughout, 25 ½ in. (64.7 cm.) long
