Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 2005 and its subsequent sale on June 30th of the same year. Reference 5970 was introduced to the market at the Baselworld in April 2005 and replaced the celebrated reference 3970. The model immediately enjoyed popularity amongst collectors and was available in white gold or pink gold only until 2007 when the production of these two versions ceased. Reference 5970 in yellow gold was in production only in 2008. In 2008, the model was made exclusively in platinum.

This reference is recognized by many astute collectors as one of the best Patek Philippe references ever made, and a worthy successor to legendary perpetual calendar chronograph references such as the reference 1518 and reference 2499.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.
