The Rest on the Flight into Egypt

There are five drawings of this composition, three at the Albertina (inv. 3908, 3909, and 27042), and two in the Tiroler Landesmuseen Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck (inv. T677 and T685). The present drawing is the only one which bears a date and which is reddened for transfer on the verso. We are grateful to Peter Prange for his help cataloguing this drawing. Mr. Prange believes it is a copy after a lost original by Troger, as are the five other versions.
