A CIZHOU-TYPE RUSSET-PAINTED BLACK-GLAZED VASE, YUHUCHUNPING
JIN DYNASTY (1115-1234)
The vase is potted with a pear-shaped body rising to a waisted neck and a flared mouth, and is supported on a short foot. The body is decorated in bold brush strokes of russet-brown color with two abstract phoenixes, reserved against a black ground that stops above the narrow foot, exposing the buff body.
