A QINGBAI OCTALOBED TWO-TIERED BOX
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY (1127-1279)
The slightly domed cover is slip-decorated with eight conjoined cash filled with stippling that surround a similar center, the design conforming to the lobed shape of the deep sides. The sides of the middle section and the lower section are conformingly lobed, and the exteriors of all are covered with a pale blue glaze that leaves the rims unglazed. The interiors are partially covered with a thin wash of glaze.
