Oblong 4° (241 x 329 mm). Engraved title and 21 engraved charts by P. Starckman (some minor marginal staining). Contemporary red morocco gilt (rebacked, portions of old spine laid down). Provenance: C. Haude (ownership signature on lower fly-leaf); Augery Gilbert (ownership signature on lower fly-leaf).
FIRST EDITION. Includes charts of the harbors of Gibraltar, Mallorca, Barcelona, Collioure, Sète, Hyères, Antibes and others. The work is exceptionally detailed demonstrating the skill of Peter Starckman, one of the most sought after map engravers of the period who signed 20 of the 21 maps. Polak 6702.
