Lot Essay

The presence of the snake around the thumb piece of the present watch, the “trademark” of George Michael Moser, suggests that the repoussé case was made by the celebrated artist. Of Swiss origin George Michael Moser (1706-1783) was reputed for his fine repoussé work and "en grisaille" enamel technique on watch cases.
