Mixed 2003 & 2005 Corton Charlemagne
2003 Corton Charlemagne, Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils magnums (3)
2005 Corton Charlemagne, Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils magnums (3)
Tasting note: 2005 Corton Charlemagne
The largest Grand Cru white in the Bouchard Domaine, these high-altitude vines were acquired back in 1909. The rows are aligned north-south, to avoid the grapes being exposed to full sunshine during the hottest hours of the day. Harvesting took place on three different days, with intervals, to ensure grapes were picked at perfect ripeness. In colour, this is brilliant green-golden, with vibrant, mineral aromas, touched with fine oakiness – very rich and fresh. Palate has luscious, creamy texture, powerful dense fruitiness, and very long, steely aftertaste. A magnificent wine for long-term ageing. Barrel-sample. Tasted on 17 November 2006. A.H.
